Gonet-Medeville Brut Tradition Champagne. Brilliant straw color. Spicy lemon, strawberry and floral honey aromas are complicated by a subtle hint of baking spices. Brisk and focused, with surprising weight and juicy red berry and orchard fruit flavors. The spicy quality returns on the finish, which is nicely brisk and clinging. Leaves a suave trail of minerals behind. This should be great as an aperitif. 90 points International Wine Cellar. Lightweight and fruity, offering apple, floral and citrus flavors with a fine mousse. Balanced and appealing, if just slightly rustic on the finish. 88 Points The Wine Spectator, 2009. Very pale gold with very fine beads, the nose wafts leafy and herbaceous from the glass. Light and lively on the palate, with red fruit flavors on a very soft mousse, showing nice length. D&M Tasting Notes. There is a potential for high quality combined with good value, and wines that might reflect the terroir of small plots of land rather than standardised blends. R stands for Récoltant ( the literal translation is ‘Harvester’) M stands for Manipulant ( literally ‘Handler’) These “grower” champagnes account for just under 3 percent of the total market. |
