Gonet-Medeville Blanc des Noirs Champagne. Pale gold with a strong mousse. Intensely mineral nose displays Meyer lemon, lime, green apple, pungent herbs and chalky minerals. Clean and finely etched, with energetic citrus, anise and wet stone flavors underscored by honeysuckle and quinine. An uncompromising Champagne that delivers impressive finishing lift, cut and persistence. There's no way that I'd have guessed this wine was made entirely from red grapes. 92 points Stepehn Tanzer's, International Wine Cellar Rich and full bodied, with light red berry and graphite notes underscored by citrus. It firms up on the finish, with a berry and wax aftertaste. Drink now through 2011. 89 Points The Wine Spectator, 2009. Silvery golden bubbly with a spicy, toasty nose. It comes across the palate with serious power--big, rich, layered champagne with a steely focus. D&M Tasting Notes. Blancs de Noirs, Brut, Rosé ... RM or récoltant-manipulant. Driven by passion for their product, these producers bottle and sell their wines under their own labels. There is a potential for high quality combined with good value, and wines that might reflect the terroir of small plots of land rather than standardised blends. R stands for Récoltant ( the literal translation is ‘Harvester’) M stands for Manipulant ( literally ‘Handler’) These “grower” champagnes account for just under 3 percent of the total market. |
