Lucien retired back in ྛ and handed over the reins to sons Claude and Hervé. Lucien had put together a remarkable string of vineyards in Santenay (with tiny lots in Chassagne rouge territory and in Pommard). The acreage totaled close to forty, but Lucien sold all the wine from those fine old-vine parcels to négociants. Claude and Hervé put an end to that. They quickly made their mark with their domaine bottlings, and today excellent reviews can be found from every important Burgundy critic known to American readers.
